What is the CAG?
The View-Master Citizens Advisory Group (CAG) is a group formed to help former workers and their families stay abreast of developments on health issues related to exposure to trichloroethylene (TCE) and other contaminants at the former View-Master plant site. The CAG also advises epidemiologists at Oregon State Public Health (OSPH) on questions regarding the health study being conducted by OSPH. Who participates in the CAG?
CAG meetings are open to the public. Most of the participants are former View-Master workers or their family members. However, others interested in the environmental issues raised by the contamination of the former plant site are also welcome.

When does the CAG meet?
The CAG meets four or five times a year with at least two meetings in the spring and two in the fall. The meetings are usually in the evening - typically from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. because the Beaverton City Library closes at 8:00 p.m.

Where does the CAG meet?
The CAG has been meeting in Beaverton at either the Beaverton City Library or the Beaverton Resource Center. These locations provide conference rooms that are well suited to our group. Beaverton is centrally located to former workers since the former plant site is now located inside the City of Beaverton.

Who runs the CAG?
Decisions on what the CAG does are made by a five-member Executive Committee chosen from the regular participants. The members of the Executive Committee include a chair, co-chair, secretary, and two advisors. A long-time former worker, Rocky Teague, currently serves as chair. Most decisions are made after discussion by those participating in the CAG meetings.

Mission
The mission of the View-Master Citizens Advisory Group is to advocate for employees and their children in advising Oregon State Public Health (OSPH) on planned public health studies of former View-Master employees and their children focused on identifying health impacts of exposure to tricholoroethylene (TCE) and other toxic chemicals.
Purpose
The purpose of the View-Master CAG is to:
- Provide input, where appropriate, to other public health professionals
conducting studies of the facility’s former employees and their children’s
health related to toxic chemical exposure,
- Secure a participatory role in the health studies, including information
distribution,
- Attempt to obtain answers to former employees questions related to toxic
chemical exposure;
- Oversee the design and implementation of health studies and the
communication of study progress and results;
- Develop and implement an outreach strategy,
- Improve partnerships with OSPH and other investigators,
- Improve communication of local, state, and federal agencies with former
employees and their children, and Advocate for funding of well-designed heath studies of View-Master workers.
Scope
The scope of the View-Master CAG is to study health related issues associated with exposure to TCE and other toxic chemicals. The CAG’s primary interest is health issues and environmental issues associated with the View-Master plant site.
